I've searched far and wide for a great pool game to play online, and well... I gave up, there weren't any. I'm not talking about fancy 3D pool you have to download, just simple 2d pool with really good physics and it plays in the browser.
I was also partial to java games, because I like being able to use the right mouse button to shoot. (Commonly called right click).
Back in April of 2008, I decided, hey, why not make my own? So I did. It's always under development, but it has very good game play, quite a few players (not 100's though) and it's fun to play. Come check it out:

We have tournaments most of the day, and even cash prize tournaments. You can actually win real FRNS (USD) just by playing! The more players, the more cash in the system.
In addition to great online pool, Loneaspen.com also has detailed statistics and tracking of each match played, and events such as combos and potting 3 at once. It's a data mine of pool information.
Just recently, we added the ability to have a custom cue stick. They can be purchased with in-game credits (free), or with paypal. Just so you know, you can't buy in game credits. The credits are earned by playing in special pool tournaments. After you get a few, you can wager those credits against another player to earn even more. But it's still not 100% online pool gambling, it's better, it's Free!!!
Pool Master is worth playing.
